haunted is the £3.99 horror nobody talks about
Half an hour of horror in your own room, three endless arcade modes, two secret chapters, offline, £3.99. And the honest catch.

A Quest game for £3.99 that turns your own room into the level. Hardly anyone talks about it. Which is a shame, because HAUNTED: Are You Alone? is exactly the kind of small find this feed exists for.
Here’s the short note. What’s in it, what’s good, where the catch is.
what it is
HAUNTED is a mixed reality horror game for Meta Quest. Through passthrough you see your real room, and that’s exactly where everything happens. Arms break out of your walls. A hole opens in your floor. A hellhound hangs from your ceiling. The game scans the room using the standard Quest Space Setup, and according to the studio any room size works.
The story runs about 25 to 35 minutes. A prologue, seven chapters, a finale, an epilogue. Each chapter has its own mechanic: in the first you stop a witch by looking away. In the third a porcelain doll copies your every move. In the fourth you hunt for skulls in the dark with a torch and a revolver.
On top of that there are three endless arcade modes: Grave Rush, Arm Cutter and Skull Hunt. Plus two secret chapters unlocked with marks on the floor. We’re not saying any more than that here.
why it’s lowkey good
The room is real. That’s the whole trick, and it works. A knock doesn’t come from “some wall”, it comes from the wall next to your desk. The sound is spatial: footsteps behind you, voices under the floor.
Your body is the controller. You duck, crawl, lean over a hole, hold a mirror into a beam. At one point you grab with your bare hands. Hand tracking and Touch controllers both work.
Nobody gets stuck. After every death there’s a Help button that explains how to get through the chapter. From the third death in a chapter, Skip chapter is added. The camera never moves on its own, which helps with motion sickness.
It’s done when you’re done. Half an hour of story, finished in one evening. After that there’s New Game+ with changed text in the menu and on the phone, and the arcade modes run endlessly, with coins, a shop called Bone Market and top-5 high scores per mode.
Small things you appreciate. No internet needed. According to the store, no ads in the game. All chapters are open in the chapter select from the start. There’s a Hide-my-room mode that replaces your room with a virtual padded cell, handy for anyone who streams and doesn’t want to show their flat.
the catch
Honestly, there are a few.
- Short. The story is half an hour. If you’re after a long horror adventure, this isn’t it. The arcade modes stretch it out, but there are three modes, not thirty.
- English only. According to the store, English is the only language.
- PEGI 18. Gore, loud jump scares, flashing and dark light. The game shows a two-page content warning every time you start it. Not for children, not for pregnant women, not for people with epilepsy, heart conditions or anxiety disorders.
- You need floor space. You can’t play seated. The store lists room-scale and standing, and in the story you have to crawl and duck. If your room is full of stuff, tidy up first.
- Brand new. Released on 9 October 2026. There are no store reviews yet, so no crowd verdict to hang on to either.
who it’s for
For adults with a Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 or Quest 3S who want a scare in their own home rather than a virtual mansion. For anyone who wants to show friends something you can see from the outside: people ducking, punching the air, crawling across the carpet. For high score chasers who keep playing after the story.
Not for people who don’t really like horror and want to “give it a go”. The game is loud, and it comes out of your walls.
