the custom packs are the real reason to download lingfit
Type in a topic or bring 20 words of your own, and the AI builds a chapter. One credit free, then it costs — but credits don't expire.

Every language app has a course. Almost all of them have flashcards. But few let you decide what it’s actually about.
In LingFit these chapters are called “custom packs”, or “Extra Packs” on the website. And honestly, they’re the bit that makes downloading it worth your while.
how it works
There are two routes.
By topic. You type in any topic you like. Say “job interview in Spanish”, “renting a flat” or “watching football with friends”. Then you pick one of four word levels:
- Basic Words
- Advanced Vocabulary
- Ultra Advanced
- Specialist Words
LingFit suggests a word list. You can review and edit it before the chapter is built. That matters, because it means you can bin the words you already know or will never need.
By word list. You bring 1 to 20 words of your own. Either type them in, pick them from your saved words, or photograph them. A vocab list from a seminar, a worksheet, a page of a book, a menu. The app reads the text and pulls the vocabulary out.
Either way you get a full chapter. Same exercise formats as the main course, with audio and images. It lands in the “Yours” tab and gets its own emoji.
why it’s lowkey good
Because most syllabuses are written for an average person who doesn’t exist. You might not want to talk about fruit and weather. You might want to know how to book a haircut in Lisbon. Or how to talk about band practice in German.
A pack on your own topic fills exactly that gap. And because it uses the same exercises as the course, it isn’t a word list to tick off. You hear the words, build sentences with them, say them out loud.
A few small things that round it off:
- Packs can be renamed, and the description changed.
- You can make a pack public. An automatic safety check runs first.
- You can search, save and like public packs from other learners. Sometimes someone has already built your exact topic.
- If creation fails, you get the credit back automatically.
The photo route is especially handy for students. Module vocabulary that would otherwise gather dust as a PDF in your downloads folder becomes a chapter you actually work through.
three topic ideas to start with
If you’re drawing a blank:
- Your job or side gig. Café, warehouse, office, care work. The words you actually hear there.
- A hobby. Climbing, cooking, gaming, photography. The motivation is built in.
- A situation you’re dreading. A doctor’s appointment, a flat viewing, a difficult conversation.
small tips for better packs
A few things that help when you’re building:
- Keep the topic narrow. “Cooking” is too broad. “Planning a dinner for friends in Italian” gives you more useful words.
- Pick the word level honestly. Basic Words for beginners, Specialist Words only if you’ve got the basics down.
- Actually read the list. Two minutes of editing beforehand saves you half a chapter of words you don’t need.
- Give it a good name. If you make the pack public, it’s easier for others to find.
the catch
Packs cost credits. One per pack. Every new account gets exactly one free credit to start with. After that you buy bundles in the app, in three sizes (Starter, Most Popular, Best Value).
In the US App Store on 10 Oct 2026, five credits cost $5.99, twelve cost $9.99 and twenty cost $14.99. We don’t know the pound prices. That’s on top of the subscription, not included in it.
At least bought credits don’t expire. So you can buy a small bundle and use it over months, no pressure.
And: the packs are AI-generated. You can review the word list beforehand, which helps. If a translation or a sentence still reads oddly, you can report the lesson directly. A watchful eye doesn’t hurt either way.
who it’s for
For anyone who already knows what they need the language for. For students with vocab lists. For people with a job abroad on the horizon.
Less so for complete beginners with no plan. They’re better off with the main course for now.
